This is not the win of TRS but the win of the BCs. TRS is a BC party. Congress did not lose, but the SCs and STs have lost. They will now have to stick with the BC Goddess Telangana Thalli with Bathukamma in her hand. SCs and STs were never allowed to perform Bathukamma. How can Telangana Thalli be their Goddess. If Congress was elected she would have been depicted with Bonalu in her hand. Read the history of Bathukamma by Prof.Kancha Ilaiah.

If Congress is elected Telangana Thalli will be depicted carying a SC/ST Bonalu in one hand. BC Caste Bathukamma in the other hand will remain as it is.

The upper caste women thought it was below their dignity to do Bathukamma. Now suddenly some Dorasanlu (women of dominant castes) went to this play as a symbol of the agitation. Is it for Telangana or for power? The most interesting thing is that while the lower castes are using their cultural symbols to achieve a separate Telangana, the members of former feudal families are playing the politics of agitation.
