Deus Ex Machina (2004/2006) by ROB FATAL
A short clip of the award winning 2004/2006 video art piece directed and shot by ROB FATAL. If music is universal language, then why are music cultures often segregated? Different racial and social stereotypes come to mind when you say, Opera, Jazz or Hip Hop, and certain social taboos come to light when musicians and listeners cross barriers of genre. In Deus Ex Machina three DJs use turntablist music to literally scratch out the segregation and categorization that plague their society.*Winner/Juror pick- 2007, CSU, Sacramento University Union Gallery Student Purchase Award Show*Official selection- 2008, Alternative Visions: Trash/Cult/Experimental/Avant-Garde/Extr eme Cinema and Television Conference*Official selection- 2004, Powering Up/Power Down International Radical Media Festival.
