@MoonLightFacade Your remark on shifting values between the public and the private realms make sense. Someone who cannot afford to buy himslelf an Iphone may think that he has been deprived of his liberty as a consumer because he is not allowed to participate in the economic life (eg. economic rights). He is constrained by the absence of liberty which money would have otherwise granted him: the absence of constraints is not so much determined by his voting choices than by his consumer's habits,

@jinkedful The problem isn't capitalism - it's fucking consumerism which does not nothing but warp human being's brains into thinking that a sofa or the new iPhone is one of the most important objects to own in the world. It also keeps the U.S. completely dumbed down through socially engineered media advertisement, completely unaware of it.

@jinkedful economics is subjective; there is no right or wrong it's merely what you place your values, morals and ethics over is what counts. In all honesty, I believe the best way to have true economic freedom is through a nation which allows any economic system (even a gift economy, or one which doesn't even exist already) to be used within that nation, as long as it stays limited to a town or city and isn't forced upon any other settlement.

@jinkedful At least you're being realistic about it; I feel the same way for the most part, except I live in a country where there is no economic system: America. I believe capitalism is inhumane, yet I also believe the same when it comes to socialism and communism: they all end up fucking over human beings in some way or another. Capitalism at least allows maximum freedom, but this war over economics is pointless: what we need is a nation which realizes that, like with every else, economics

Its unfortunate but Chomsky is a shill, not because what he says but by what he dismisses. It is ridiculous to describe American politics without mentioning the Council on Foreign Relations, the single most influential think tank in the U.S. This glorified intellectual has as much enlightenment as Bernie Madoff, he looks legit to the casual observer and may have some legit points but his foundation is built on bullshit. And the only legit points are the ones he's copied from other authors.

Democracy will come to America when beer and TV is taken away, then the Revolution will begin. Keep liking my comment.
